For those interested, here is the link to the unofficial =SWF= mod collection for ARMA 3 if you want to enjoy Dynamic Recon Ops or Dynamic Combat Ops.

I have been playing this since it came out on Oct 21, these are my impressions.

You can't take this game for any historical value, let's just get that out of the way now. However, don't let that ruin your view of this game. If you want historical WW1, play Verdun.

Overall I am having a blast in this game, I have not had this much fun with cursing since Battlefield 1942. I'd put the gameplay of this game somewhere between Battlefield Bad Company (1-2) and Battlefield 2, more towards Bad Company though. The graphics are top notch, no complaints there. Sound design and quality is AAA. Have come across only a couple of bugs, so not bad.

The main single player campaign is fun, but short. Who plays single player in BF anyways. I definitely recommend this game to anyone that likes FPS, BF, or multiplayer team games. With hardcore mode on the horizon, it's only going to get better.

See you guys on the Battlefield.

as an edit, i forgot to add in my pros that you can link steam and many other applications to discord. It will automatically import your friends that have discord as well.

So far for my pro vs. cons:

Discord Pros:
-Great quality
-reliability is top notch, have not had a single drop out or connection loss.
-server and program are absolutely free
-many tweaks and automation bots available to take care of the server without having to monitor the server 24/7
-possible later integration of TFAR/ACRE for Arma 3 into the program.
-Funny sayings and mottos during start up
-lots of support and already a large community following
-once connected to a server, you stay connected and can navigate easily through the tabs on the side
-no need to install the program, can run from any internet browser
-Steam integration and automatic friend importing. Also works with twitch and many other gaming apps.

Cons:
-No integration of TFAR/ACRE...yet!
-notifications on the mobile app can get annoying if people are posting a lot of things on the chat channels (found this can be turned off)
-sending private messages can be annoying as far as going through multiple menus instead of just a double click(through further use, I found that you can easily send direct messages by just clicking the name and a popup box comes up with useful information and a direct messaging box.
-auto voice recognition is super sensitive even when manually adjusted (may be different for others, i'm using a turtle beach X11 headset)

This is just what I have so far, and more points will probably come up as I use it more and more. overall, i like this program a lot more than teamspeak and think it could really benefit the clan in terms of saving money and having less to worry about or hassle with.

I have pre-ordered BF1 standard edition. I have to say, this is the first BF game I have preordered since BF3. No it isn't BF1942 or BF2, but it is an improvement in the current lineup of the BF series.

That being said, looking at the game itself, I do not like that it isn't realism based or is even halfway historically accurate. However, I got over those things and started to look at it as a alternate history, steam punk, view of WW1 and I had a blast playing it. Many of the things that fras, iwazzio, spartan, and myself did in the beta brought back the good old days for me.

Another plus for me that they are bringing to the full game is the operations mode, which allows players to play on an entire front not just a tiny area, the each session builds on itself and each battle/game played has an impact on the overall war. You can even see the previous area you played on the horizon of each battle after. To me that sound really fun and possibly challenging. check it out: https://www.battlefield.com/games/battlefield-1/modes/operations

Overall, I see it as a fun game and will be playing it quite a bit, I hope that others will be joining in.

edit: Looks like they have added more maps to the list too, good...

looks like there are more to come too. Then there are also the DLC ones

That is why I posted this here, it is not a requirement by any means, it is only a recommendation with the work already done for you, if you so chose to make the move official.

Should we transition to Discord as our Primary VoIP Tool?

Attention Spartans,

I have taken the liberty of creating a discord for the clan. It is already set up and almost an exact mirror to our TS.

Discord is a free program that works on both computer and smartphone. The server is also free. I highly recommend that members start switching as a few of us have already been using the program with great success.

In my opinion the interface is top notch and the voice quality is much better than TS. The reliability is also solid, as our TS cut out approximately 3-5 times last night and had numerous voice issues, thanks to iwazzio. I have not had one issue with discord yet.

here is the link to our discord:
https://discord.gg/FZSQCvh

and here is the link to the application iself:
https://discordapp.com

Also thanks to Spartan0536 for the help in creating our Discord.

See you on the battlefield

edit: As members join the discord server I will be assigning their roles as they are in TS, rest assured no one is going to lose their place or be removed from the clan. Scriv, Taz, and any other admins, as soon as you join I will give full admin rights.

This is a game, the developers have stated that many times. It will be a ARMA type historical shooter. It is geared towards realism and historical accuracy, but it does not require that you play that way.

Has anyone else pledged? I bought the 2LT tier for like $44. Gives you the full game, an exclusive rifle, some uniforms, and Steam beta access.
