The new F1 season is starting and F1 2013 is on sale in Steam for this weekend. I bought it, and both wobbly and Spartan already had it.

We are planning to play it with wobbly at some point next week at around 18:00 GMT. Feel free to join us if you happen to see us on Teamspeak, and do tell here on the forum if you have the game. Racing with Spartans should be fun!

I have a funny F1 2013 story to tell.

A bunch of guys I know who all work together at a freight company all played F1 2013.
When the F1 season started they used to play online each week at the correct track through the season.
However, the competition was so great that come Monday morning when these guys turned up for work they use to actually fight each other for being 'cut up' or 'run off' etc. during the race!!

It is a good idea for a racing event though.

Another great idea.

That could really get folks who are not knowledgable about the sport interested in the tracks and able to appreciate what the drivers are going through when they have to negotiate certain parts of the track.

I think there are 4 or 5 of us who now own F1 2013.
It would be cool to try out a few online races. It looks easy enough to set up (I think)!

1) Create a game for friends only
2) Invite friends
3) Choose track and car

I'm not sure if that is the right order. When that is sorted the other places can be filled with bots.

I can predict a lot of shouting and swearing on Teamspeak!

After driving an F1 car in Live for Speed and Assetto Corsa, I'm not surprised that the handling is much worse in this mostly-arcade game. It just lacks any feel the previously mentioned games have. I doubt you can notice this if you're playing with a controller.

But when I played it inside the body of a a real F1 car with F1-style steering wheel and pedals, it was great. Maybe I just got more immersed, maybe the steering wheel settings were adjusted better or maybe the steering wheel&pedals just were better than mine.

Anyway, I do think we should try to play for a little bit. Maybe someone on the internet has figured out a way to set up the wheel in a good way.

I'm surprised you say this Al as I think it is more (or at least equal to) Assetto Corsa. But hey, I,m struggling with my controller
What is my next challenge

From my experience, driving with a controller doesn't compare at all to driving in real life. And Assetto Corsa comes pretty damn near it, with all the tiny details on the road surface being felt through the steering wheel. If/When you get a good steering wheel, you'll understand how much information (about the road) you were missing. I'd expect every game to feel very similiar when playing with a gamepad, because you don't get force feedback with them. But in F1 2013, you don't get a good feeling on what's happening under the wheels.

And we'll see how good your lap times are if you turn traction control and automatic gearbox off...
