PCGN have created a new Rust server, it has better rules/mods than the Rusty server that we have been playing on. I personally am going to start using the PCGN one. How many other SWF members are willing to switch?

The Following mods have been installed

 

  • Rust.IO, (Like DayZ DB map)
  • Freindly Fire,
  • Clan.IO,
  • 5x Gather rate,
  • Near insta Craft,
  • Server rewards,
  • Quick sort,
  • Quick smelt,
  • Player Challenges,
  • Playtime rewards (30 = 500 coins),
  • Anti-raid (15 min after person from clan logs off),
  • Skip Night,
  • Stack control (25000 for resources),
  • Removertool (allows less wipes),
  • Start proction for first time players on server,
  • Quests, and more to come.
  • Max Clan Size = 8 Players

Some good news, some bad news...

 

The good:

The server is up and running and stable. Unfortunately that's where the good stops.

 

 

The bad:

The server has been returned to vanilla.

 

-No teleport

-Standard loot tables

-No extra NPC's

-No starter kits

-No skipping night

-Standard crafting time

 

And worst of all...

 

-Decay was turned on. All bases have decayed to almost nothing and in most cases they are gone completely. This means all the gear stored inside is gone as well. 

 

I spoke to ED about what happened and he will be talking to Balls about joint server control or simply handing the server over to SWF. I have never run a rust server but am willing to do what needs to be done to get the server where it needs to be. I am hoping there was a backup completed before decay was turned on so we and others that were playing on the server can have it back the way it was. If not we will just have to start over and try again.

With the help of Balls we now have a RUST server up and running with the same mod config. All player data has been saved but everything else was wiped and the map has been updated with the new conifguration per the devs (IE, no more satelite dish monument).

 

Now is the time to discuss which mods we like, don't like and the desired configuration of those we decide to keep.

I completed a full update today and brought the server back up with the new mod configuration. We have weeded out around 25 mods that were unnecessary down to a final count of 32. The port has also gone back to the origonal 28015. Balls said the issue was that the ARK server was changed to that port and caused it to be blocked for the RUST server. We should start seeing more traffic from some of the players that were on before the server went down.

 

The next task is to get a handle on the in admin commands to make the rewards store prices more fair and the kits to give something better than what is currently available.

 

Let's get our RUST on Spartans!

It was down for a bit because I forgot about the update on Thursday. I updated the server and the out of date mods today and it is now back in full force.
