BF2 Dragon Valley map being remade for BF4

The new battlefield community was asked which maps they would prefer to have remade in Battlefield 4.

The DICE LA CTE Team wanted to make sure the map catered to vehicle-players and decided on the map by:

• A map that was not already re-imagined: Strike at Karkand and Wake Island were removed from consideration.
• More recent battlefield releases were not considered: BF3 & BC2
• A large vehicle map: They were thinking “classic Battlefield” (Not sure Why. What about the Target Audience)
• Dev-Team weigh in: The final pick was heavily influenced by visuals, gameplay, fun to make, and fun to play. (What happened to TELEMETRY?)

Dragon Valley from Battlefield 2 (BF2) was selected to be re-imaged.

The developer want the gameplay of the map to be similar to the old version. One issues with Dragon Valley was the limited draw distance & fog which enabled players to sneak around and get that “classic” conquest flag cap rotation in a relatively narrow map. This was an issue for the developers as the draw distance in Battlefield 4 covers the whole map. The solution selected was the use of more foliage, a cloud layer, and increased terrain elevations. There are repairable bridges.

Dragon Valley is playable on the CTE in Conquest Large. The developers want to pretend to acknowledge feedback for the next two weeks.

Aside from the loss of two flags, it's not a perfect 1:1 remake. The obligatory flag crunch is there, and several bridges no longer exist, forcing players through chokepoints. This is on top of the game's overall balance, which is completely FUBAR.

I dunno anymore. I'll try it out once it releases for the non-Premium peasants. If people are already whining about it being "too big."

Not sure how much has been fixed by "CTE Classic Large Conquest." My guess would be that the gameplay mechanics have not recovered from Bad Company 2.
- Unwanted regenerating health infantry
- Unwanted regenerating health vehicle
- Poor aircraft physics
- Poor tank physics
- Too high a threshold for vehicle disable
- Low vehicle health
- Very low splash damage from main tank round
- No dedicated medic
- Weapon types are not class specific
- Lack of an infantry stamina system
- Unwanted Audio spot
- Unwanted Arbitrary in-game character yelling
- Poor mini-map
- Weak squad management tools
- Casualization of the Commander position

Questions
- Is the in-game VoIP functional for randoms in the same squad?
- Can squad leaders talk to each other and see the other squads orders?
- For the infantry, is ammo organized by magazines or ammo pool?
- For vehicles, do they still have unlimited ammo?

Confirmed based on watching the videos
- Neon markers on control points
- Red star over enemy squad leader
- Not squad leader only spawn
- Only four classes/kits
- Poor copy of the Commo Rose
- Failed socialize order system
- Unwanted 3D spots
- Scope glint
- Killcam
- Perks
- Poor full screen map by pressing the "M" key. The playable area is about 15% of the map.
- Messaged in the center-low of the screen
- Immersion breaking skins for weapons & vehicles
- Annoying, frequent, invaluable awards
- Overly inflated point system

Removed and likely not to be seen again
- Battle Recorder
- Mod ability
- LAN ability

Other observations
- The rugged, heavily wooded, tight terrain/objective areas favor the infantry
- Transition from AT weapon to rifle to AT weapon is too fast

Like
- Ability to switch between sites on the rifle

I just saw this going to have to try it.
Been busy with Metal Gear and Dying Light.

I still think Highway Tampa and Warlord would be great for BF4.
