This is my loadout for the Lightning with the L100 Python Heat.It is set up as mainly anti infantry with thermal optics and radar.Note with thermal you have to get in quite close, hence the radar. This helps avoiding getting C4'd, but means sacrificing the Auto Repair.

I have not used the Vanguard much and thought I would take it out more often.I'm fairly successful with my Lightning setup, so I thought to go with something similar with the Vanguard.
Because I'm using thermal optics with radar again, means sacrificing Auto Repair hence my choice of Fire Suppression.Which in turn means I can't use the Vanguard Shield

Again, an anti infantry set up.

For weapons I thought a combination of the Titan-150 Heat and Halberd or Enforcer ML85 would be good.I find the Heat for both tanks a good compromise. It has good splash damage for infantry kills, and quite hard hitting against vehicles.

I was interested to find out how others set up their Vanguards. There are so many variants for differing objectives.
I will continue to go for infantry though.

On Waterson I concentrated on the Vanguard.

Load out:

HEAT ( but would really like the AP upgrade )
Fully certed shield.
Fully certed auto repair.
Fully certed rival chassis. This gives better turning and faster reverse. I thought the increase in reverse, although not much, was the best option as you don't want to show the enemy the weaker rear of your damaged tank. This is also where the shield comes into use.
The Vanguard is primarily anti tank so AP with ML85 or Halberd is ideal. Always try and get a gunner, and hunt in packs.

On Woodman i have been putting certs into the Lightening first.

Load out:

HE turret for infantry.
Thermal vision
Auto repair
Smoke
Racer chassis

I like the smoke because it breaks lock-ons and is good for cover when backing out of trouble.
I use the Lightening primarily for infantry.

Thanks BTTF.
Shield and Auto Repair is the combo. I would have to learn to live without the Radar though
Interesting about the Rival Chassis, I will check it out.

Cheers

Nice set ups there Scriv.

Wobbly, for me I always considered that the best option. Being able to back up as quick as possible and using the shield to buy some time when badly damaged.

As with anything it's always over extending yourself that gets you killed. In a vanguard keep your distance with some nearby cover. Easily said and more often than not I've chased a kill only to regret it !

This is the biggest killer.
