Driving a powerful car fast is easy, but driving a slow car is difficult. And it's the shortest track in the game. Doing a lap is fast (Taz, Wobbly and I have times around 1:01) so perfecting the corners shouldn't take long.
I was more interested in the BMW M3 GT2, once again on Imola but with no tuning restrictions (unofficial) challenge. I raised the tire pressure and adjusted some gears, and got 0.230 seconds off my fastest lap time! I also adjusted the angle of the rear spoiler, but it was hot that I couldn't make another lap to see if it had any effect. It should give me more speed, but make the car less stable in certain speeds. Tuning the car is all about finding a balance between speed and driveability. Imola has become a very familiar track thanks to the challenges, so I don't think my racing lines need much improvement.
As I haven't spent much time with the McLaren MP4-12C, I went for a few rounds on Imola. It's actually a good car after all, and it feels like catching a drift is easier than with a Ferrari. Then again, I haven't been driving the Ferraris in quite a while. Maybe my skills have improved and I could drive them faster! Driving on Imola was very faimiliar, but since the MP4-12C isn't a racing car (the GT3 version is) I couldn't drive as hard as with the BMW. There's no downforce and less grip. We will be running out of tracks for the weekly challenge at some point, so I suggest that for the tracks we've driven a track car on we use a street car and vice versa. You can't drive in the exact same way, and it would be fun to see if we could reach the same times as with the previous car we used.
