Anyone have any advice on free software to convert DVDs to an iPad ?

I've googled it and tried FreeMake and Wondershare. One couldn't cope with DRM protection and had a scrambled picture, the other for some reason would only convert part of the film.

Any suggestions guys ?

Note that copying protected DVDs also requires the purchase of AnyDVD.

Thanks McGuirk, but that's a little expensive. I was looking for a freeware ideally.
