New update. New faction, new weapons (like the M1 Garand, M1918A1 BAR ), new maps, new fixes and changes. Leaning has been updated (for better or for worse, I don't know yet), the amount of bandages has been reduced from 2 to 1. Movement around rocks and cliffs should be smoother.

We've played this together a few times with Scriv and Taz. So far it's been good fun for the most part.

The main game mode in Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is Territories, where the attackers try to capture and hold one or two objectives at the same time in order to advance for the next set of objectives. It's a lot like a mix of Rush and Conquest from the Battlefield series. 32 players on each side for a total of 64 players on the server.

Most of the time the attackers are USA, but sometimes they can be Australian Army or Vietcong. The defending side is usually Vietcong. What side you are on decides what weapons you can have and how do squad spawns happen. The US soldiers can spawn directly on their squad leader, and the Vietkong squad leader can place a squad tunnel to be used by any squad member. The basic grunt gets an M16/AK-47 and a few grenades. Special classes get flamethrowers, sniper rifles, RPGs etc. The weapons are deadly and accurate. Using full auto is only good for extremely close quarters.

Other gameplay mechanics include the ability to rest your weapon on a surface, which happens automatically once you're close enough. Another way of improving accuracy is to use a bipod or going prone. There is a suppression effect, so even hitting close to an enemy has some effect by letting other squad members to advance. With most weapons you can adjust the scope for the range. This is more of a concern for sniper rifles and generally very long range engagements.

The only vehicles at the moment are helicopters, and only the US side gets them. There's a recon chopper, a transport chopper and an attack chopper. I think an APC is coming in the future. The maps are big and often have dense forests to hide in.

What are you waiting for? Get back on the battlefield! At the momement you can get RS2: Vietnam for 10$ on Humble Bundle. You'll also get the modern day shooter Insurgency and the WWII shooter Day of Infamy (both from the same developer) as well as some other games.

A saturday would probably be the best bet for players from both America and Europe. Nobody is hopefully at work and it's not too late either.

For the car I'd say something tame and relatively easy to control, and a track that's not too long and complex like the Nurburgring long version.

As mentioned by Taz, the BMW M3 E30 (1980s) would be fun on Imola or maybe Spa Francorchamps. I'm open to other suggeestions as well, but I do see that many have the Dream Pack 1 DLC or the Porsche pack 1. But not all have the DLC so we should focus on the cars from the free updates and vanilla cars.

It's been a while without a post here... We can't let the tradition started in 2014 fade away!

What's the next car? What's the next track? Should we give one of the many Lotus cars a chance to prove themself?

Do you get a better sense of speed with the Oculus? How is the field of view, as in how much can you see to the sides without moving your head? Is it more than you get on a single monitor?

I'm waiting patiently for a year or two to see how good the next generation of VR headsets is. At some point I'll have to upgrade my computer and get a VR set, even if I'd only use it mainly for Assetto Corsa.

Here's a list of some great games: http://kotaku.com/the-best-pc-virtual-reality-games-1783284845

I Expect You To Die, The Climb and Superhot look like lots of fun.

From Assetto Corsa's Facebook page:

We’re proud to announce 2 pieces of FREE bonus content, coming soon to Assetto Corsa on Steam as part of our next major update.

Mazda 787B

Back in 1991, Mazda became the first Japanese manufacturer to win the 24 hours of Le Mans, with the Mazda 787B. This Group C sports prototype weighed in at just 845kg and was capable of reaching top speeds of over 340 km/h, as well as producing 690bhp at 8000rpm, thanks to its Wankel rotary engine.

Mazda MX-5 N/A

Introducing the Mazda MX-5 first generation, the car which revived the classic roadster in the 90’s. Produced with a 1.6 Litre and a 1.8 Litre engine, with the latter capable of 128bhp. The modest power was more than enough to push the lightweight body to over 200 km/h.

Stay tuned for more info on what to expect in Update v 1.13 on PC

https://www.facebook.com/Assetto.Corsa/posts/1826853174007659

Two very different cars, but I've seen many requests for both on various forums. Thanks to its Wankel engine the 787B sounds crazy. 700 bhp from a 2,6l engine is also quite the achievement.

The first Mazda MX-5 (Mazda Miata in the USA) should be a fun little car thanks to its small weight.

EDIT: The update is out now and also brought in New Porsche 911 RSR 2017 for Porsche Pack 3.
- Added reversed grid races: The race session will be restarted in reversed grid order based on the standings of the previous race. Players disqualified in the first race will start from the back of the grid in the second race, regardless of their position being within the reversed grid range.
- Added Mandatory Pit: A pit window can be added to the race session. As a design choice, players need to stop at their pit box within the pit window to have a valid pit stop. Players with pit boxes further down the pitlane need to take this into account before deciding on their strategy. Players may make additional pit stops before and after the pit window, but only making a mandatory stop in the indicated pit window will validate their race. Server admins must decide on a pit window that allows all players, regardless of their pit box position, to comfortably make a pit stop under normal racing conditions.
+ lots of fixes

It's been a few days without replies... I don't think we've raced on Zandvoort yet. So Zandvoort and the Ford Mustang it is, then? Both the car and the track are vanilla content so everyone should be able to compete.
