I finally got to drive the SLS! Almost 600 bhp from a V8, 650 Nm of torque, 0-100 km/h in under four seconds, it's a beautiful car with gull wing doors and driving it is such a joy.
While it won't beat the Ferraris in speed, it's one of the easiest cars to go sideways with. Just put on street tires, give some gas and there you go in a reasonably controllable slide.
Even while weighting 1620 kg, it's only 43 kg heavier than the Ferrari 458, and it has 13 more horses under the hood, as well as 110 Nm more torque... I think this is a good excuse to drive both of them around for hours and compare the lap times. :P According to Wikipedia, both the SLS and the 458 have the same 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
I can only think of two bad things about the car. So far the engine sound hasn't made an impression on me, despite being a V8. Maybe it's the headphones, maybe it's the game audio, maybe it's the car. Or maybe I'm just too used to the iconic Ferrari sounds. The other bad thing is the inability to see which gear is on. The transmission is semi-automatic, so I can't just look at the gear shifter either. The same thing applies to the BMW M3 E92. I wonder what's the reasoning behind this.
All in all, it's a great super car. It even got me back into the old habit of turning a few little thoughts into a lenghty post.
They even got the license for the Shely Cobra, so it's officially in the game!
Other highlights include the Spa Francorchamps circuit, the Ferrari 458 GT2, The Lotus 2-11 GT4 and Lotus Exige S, as well as a unique version of the Evora GTE featuring all body panels made entirely of carbonfibre and substantial weight savings, the Mercedes-Benz SLS GT3 the and the Ferrari LaFerrari.
The graphics and the sounds will be better, and they're working on the AI pitstop strategy...which will have proper animations! When it's done, we should start expecting a singleplayer mode.
And if anybody has an Oculus Rift v2, it's fully supported! While I haven't tried any of these virtual reality devices myself, it seems that it's at its best when you are just sitting down in the game, like in a racing game or in a flying game. The consumer version isn't out yet, but the developer version with a price tag of $300 is available. Running the game in 3D at an decent resolution does require a lot of power from your GPU, so do think twice before buying an Oculus Rift set.
I'm guessing the monthly challenge for November will be LaFerrari on Spa Francorchamps if they are available by then. You can bet I'll spend hours on both anyway.

It looks like the other biggest features are career mode and new damage systems: visual, aero, engine, suspension, drivetrain damage for H-shifter cars.
It should show the correct time for your time zone as long as you have your time zone selected correctly in your profile. Let me know if it isn't working.
